Beach Escapes That You Cannot Miss In And Near Hua Hin

Hua Hin is a popular seaside resort on the Gulf of Thailand with a still active, bustling fishing port. Pristine, palm fringed sands stretch as far as the eye can see with a mix of hotels, restaurants and seaside shacks to enjoy. People flock here to enjoy sun-filled days on the beach, a range of watersports and exciting treks into local parklands, caves and waterfalls.

Huan Hin has a range of beaches to enjoy all offering their own uniqueness. Explore them all or choose your favourite to set up camp and wile away the lazy sun-drenched days. Visit in November – February for a cooler climate or March – May for temperatures up in the 30s! June – October is the rainy season with short, sharp bursts of rain throughout the days.

Hua Hin Beach

Hua Hin Beach has soft sands and a wide beach area to enjoy. It’s probably the most popular of all the Hua Hin beaches getting busy at weekends and holidays, when a lot of locals will visit. Swimming is safe here and a popular pastime. Banana boating and kite surfing enthusiasts get active at the weekends and on the more windy days. Grab one of the beach hawkers to try out freshly caught crab and shrimp or try out one of the many seafood shacks along the back of the beach.

Khao Tao Beach

Khao Tao Beach (Turtle Hill Beach), contains a few beach areas and a small town. Although all signs direct you to Khao Tao Beach, Sai Noi beach is said to be the most secluded and beautiful. The beach cove is sheltered either side by rocks and backs onto lush, tropical forest. A huge golden Buddha sits at the peak of a hill at one end of the beach which can be reached by a 10 minute hike through the dense forest. A temple complex can be explored from Khao Tao Beach and there are a few local Thai restaurants to enjoy.

Khao Takiab Beach

Drive seven kilometers South of Hua Hin and you will find Khao Takiab beach or Chopstick Hill as it’s known. With a sudden influx of development in the last few years, many large hotels have popped up along the road to the village. The long stretch of beach ends at a hill where monkeys can be seen creating mischief. Head to the northernmost end for all the restaurants and beach activities. Hire a boat out to one of the nearby islands for excellent snorkeling and fishing experiences.

Suan Son Pradipat Beach

To enjoy real tranquility and an escape from the crowds, head to Suan Son Pradipat Beach (Sea Pine Tree Garden). A remote, unspoilt tree-lined beach that has currently escaped development, this is a charming spot to recharge the senses. Enjoy soaking up the sun in peaceful surroundings and treat yourself to a massage at the small massage shack located near to the car park. For something a little more high energy, play a few rounds of golf at the Royal Thai Army Sports Centre. A small local restaurant can be found near the car park to refuel.

Cha Am Beach

Cha Am Beach stretches for miles in either direction and although it is extremely popular at weekends, it doesn’t get over crowded as people can spread out. Trees and restaurants hug the road giving you ample dining options in shaded spots. Vendors can be found walking about selling snacks and small trinkets. Enjoy activities such as bike riding, horse riding, banana boating, jet skiing and beach volleyball or treat yourself to a classic Thai massage.

Pranburi Beach

A lesser known, under-developed beach is Pranburi Beach and a perfect getaway from the tourist crowds. Small family run guesthouses and a handful of boutique hotels hug the beach road, giving you a real remote feel. In the high season, experienced kite-surfers flock to this beach to enjoy the strong winds. Restaurant options can be scarce outside of the hotels due to their being little footfall to support trade. Hiring a car will allow you to take an easy drive to nearby beaches and villages for wider options.
